CREATE-NET (CN)
CREATE-NET is a centre of research excellence in Trentino, Italy, that focuses on converting talent and human capital into intellectual property and start ups for promoting European hightech competitiveness.
Established in 2003 as a non-profit association, CREATE-NET pursues research and development activities through 5 dynamic areas using core skills in advanced communication technologies. CREATE-NET supports its research activities through a Testbed based on an open environment principle, it provides distributed, operational, high-bandwidth telecommunications infrastructure for testing advanced technology and services.
CREATE-NET works closely with governments, universities, SMEs, large companies and communities’ worldwide alike, promoting European growth and exposing various layers of the global research world in Italy. In the frameworks of these collaborations CREATE-NET received funding from the European Commission for 8 projects within FP6-ICT workprogramme: 3 as coordinator (BIONETS, ONE, SAMBA) and 5 as partner (OPAALS, MING-T, PULSER II, SAFESPOT, S3MS). CREATE-NET is also a leader in scientific conference coordination with participation in over 50 international conferences and workshops, in collaboration with IEEE Communication Society, IEEE Computer Society, ACM, EU, ICST, IFIP and NSF.
Contribution within the Consequence project
CN will perform the following major activities within the Consequence project:
• Contribution to the architecture definition and implementation of various components related to policy evaluation and enforcement, data- and meta-data management and risk modelling (WP1)
• Work on developing methodologies and supporting tools for security and risk analysis affecting data agreements. In addition CN will contribute to designing a risk-adaptive policy-based data protection model (WP2)
• Contribution to the development of policy specification language to incorporate the concept of risk as a dynamic factor. CN will work on the meta-data model, focusing on the concept of labels, their creation and management (WP3)
• Participation in the design and implementation of the enforcement layer. Most of the effort in this WP will be devoted to the realization of the meta-data labelling concept (WP4)
• Testing activities for the Test Beds (WP5-6)
Finally, CN expects to play an active role in the Dissemination process.
